On November 19, 2021, Leonor Serrano Rivas and Diego Delas met with the expert Georg Umgiesser from the Institute of Marine Sciences and Alvise Papa (Municipality of Venice) to discuss their challenge –The Future of High Waters: Geo-engineering Solutions for The Venetian Lagoon. The meeting was held online with a focus on the Aqua Alta phenomenon.
The artists write: “For our meeting with Georg, we focussed on the differential parameters that empower the apparition of the Aqua Alta phenomenon. A deep survey on these four parameters was deployed brilliantly by Georg during our conversation, and as a result, our task was to inquire amongst others on systems of representation and analysis, measurement and data compilations. We also underlined an interest in structures of civil engineering /or civil buildings and or stations for data compilation dating before the 17c. in Venice.”
